An exceptional restaurant! Loved by the locals, and flooded by visitors from around the world. Juan Mari Arzak created a great tradition, based on which his daughter Elena re-invented a new standard for cooking! This is a family restaurant in all levels. Service is warm and welcoming, with great attention to detail. The sommelier is a true master of his craft. Elena Arzak connects with her guests like no other chef. She takes orders, discusses the food, and makes sure everybody has a great time! The food is faithful to Catalan traditions, but also integrates a lot of international influences. Most prevalent we noticed South American flavors with manioc (cassava), and huitlacoche (corn smut) being part of multiple dishes. Chef Arzak uses similar ingredients in different temperatures, states, and textures for her dishes creating a canvas of unique tastes. Overall, this makes for an unforgettable experience! Deception and surprise are central in the presentations! Deserts are equally amazing!

This phenomenal restaurant is located right outside San Sebastian, in the Basque country. Chef Aduriz has applied his life philosophy on this project and has created a timeless experience. The menu has its origin deep in Spanish tradition, but it integrates international influences and modern cooking techniques that make it unique in the world! A broken plate is the only decoration initially on your table, in agreement with the minimalistic ambience of the entire space. A series of small pintxo (tapas-style introductory courses) leave no doubt, about what will follow. This place is all about perfection! Every bite-sized dish takes the guest on a trip to the Basque culinary tradition, with unique tastes, textures, smells, and images. Deception is central, since all center-pieces become part of your menu. The whole experience is fun, fast-paced, laid back, and exciting. Although menus are individualized for each table, there is one course perfectly organized so that the whole restaurant stands up and participates in the preparation of the food. A symbolic gesture that brings all the guests together to share the labor in producing the food and creating a beautiful, but diverse unity of individual tables. Surprises continue in the savory part of the menu with explosive tastes, like Aduriz's version of the cronut! And when you think that the menu has been completed you are presented with the 7 deadly sins made of chocolate! Amazing concept, humorous execution, unforgettable finish to a phenomenal dinner.
